Phyllida Burlingame comes to the role of interim executive director at ACLU-TN with over 25 years experience as a strategist, team-builder and organizational leader.
Most recently, Phyllida served as the co-director of the ACLU of Northern California’s 50-person legal-policy department and directed that organization’s policy work. An expert at integrating policy, litigation, community engagement, and strategic communications into winning long-term campaigns, Phyllida has an advocacy background in the ACLU’s many issues, with a particular focus on reproductive justice, economic justice, and education equity.
Phyllida has spent significant time in Alabama and is excited to now be working in Tennessee. Her term as interim executive director began in November 2024.
