The first 100 days of a first term U.S. president have been called the period when their power and influence is at its greatest. Donald Trump has made it clear that he intends to take fast and ruthless action that undermines the civil liberties and civil rights of millions of people living in this country – our friends, our families and our neighbors.

Here at the ACLU of Tennessee, we too have a vision – one we know that many of you share.

We envision a state and a nation where the core values of equal treatment, justice, dignity and human rights are a reality for every person.

We are seizing this moment, these first 100 days of Trump’s presidency, to move closer to our vision. We hope you will join with us by taking action:

  • To challenge any efforts by the Trump administration to fulfill his unconstitutional campaign promises
  • To advance reforms that promote justice and equality and fight measures that would trample on the rights of people in our own state
  • To raise awareness about civil liberties issues and our rights
  • To build community with Tennesseans from all walks of life

Starting Inauguration Day, we will share an action item on Facebook and Twitter each day for the next 100 days (#100DaysTN), and post it to this page. Please take as many of these actions as you can and invite others to do the same.

Because each of us can make a difference in the struggles that lie ahead. Because change is won not just in the courtroom and at the capitol, but on the street, in the school yard, at the water cooler – in hearts and minds. By ordinary people taking actions great and small that move us closer to freedom and equality.

Together, we the people have the power to shape our world.

To keep the arc of history bending toward justice.

What will you do today?
