Recently, the Knoxville Police Department has quietly increased its reliance on surveillance technology, working with state lawmakers to enhance their ability to use drones to spy on protesters, acquiring automatic license plate readers, and signing agreements with powerful corporations like Amazon to access surveillance data — all with minimal community oversight.
